Recently I won a Elgin Grade 71 Model 1 and I am having a hard time locating information on it Complete Price Guide To Pocket Watches. Looking to see if anyone is able to point out where I can locate that info. The watch is a size 6s with 17 jewels, serial number 3006895. Case is 18k multi colored gold with a 1/4 carat diamond on the front cover and a 1/10th carat diamond on the back cover. Thank you for any input you have!

Check out Wayne Schlitt's Elgin Watch Collectors Site. I'm not an Elgin collector but have always found it helpful.

Well I can see we have two different totals. One source says 5000 and one says 1000. The Elgin resource link on this site says 5000 total. The other source says a total of 1000. I found that the online database says 1000. I don't know the source of the 1000 total listed here but I don't trust the online database as anyone can contribute any info they wish on that site and a lot of bad information is on there. But anyway you know that either 1000 or 5000 total which for Elgin both are low production runs.

Harry - The Grade 71 was produced in four separate runs. The first three runs are Size 8 (Total Production: 4,000) and the last run is Size 6 (Total Production: 1,000).

Thanks Nathan. Man that is weird to have the same grade in to different sizes. But that may be common for Elgin I am not that familiar with Elgin. Beautiful watch!
