Hi All Any one good with British hallmarks. Just pickup a pocket watch key with a fob attched. On the back are three little boxes. Ancor in the first, Lion (facing left) in the second, & a lower case q. Below that in a rectangle box J.E.F Funny no period after the F. I think the top three box give me the date 1915. Will post picture tomorrow. Thanks for any help with this. The key does fit a key wind Columbus that I have. Regards Keith

You are correct it was made in 1915, the lion means sterling silver, the anchor means it was made in Birmingham and the q means 1915 The JEF is the makers mark.

The Front. Could the shield be gold? (solid or plated)

Hi Keith ! A nice Edwardian-style British watch-fob. I think the shield is made from low K gold. I've found a mark J.E.F (raised in rectangle) from a 1918 Birmingham fob medal without maker known. Regards Gerald

Thanks Gerald for the information. Any speculation of value? Regards Keith

Looking to the great 'marketplace'(fob medal) you will find prices meandering from fifteen to fifty. Gerald

Agree with Gerald silver fob should go for $50 max.
