Cool item Jon! Kind of a peek-a-boo full-plate movement.

I do not collect Rockfords, but I have two modest solid gold examples.

The first is a 12-size Grade 335, circa 1910, in a 14k Dueber case.

Here is this watch's nice Christmas 1913 inscription.

And here is its movement.

My other Rockford is a modest 15 jewel Grade 84 18-size watch in a massive multi-color solid 14 gold box hinge hunter case.

Here is the movement. Although modest, it is very decorative. Full plate movements provided a much better "canvas" for decoration than lepine movements.

Just picked this one up.
its rare to find a 545 marked with Both 545 and RG on it. only the 2nd one I have seen.

Cool movement Doug! I love those "turbine" winding wheels a lot of Rockfords have.

Wow, so many outstanding movements! This is my favorite Rockford, a Grade 101 from 1891 or so. SN 376411.

Doug-I have a Rockford 525 that has both the grade number as well as the "RG" marking. Would this be an anomaly also? I got it at the fairgrounds show a couple of years ago. I must have just beaten you to it!

from what I can tell the 525 looks like an even mix of how they were marked. some just RG, some just 525, and some both. I like the ones marked with Both. I have tried to find some logic to why Rockford did this.? I have know idea yet.
you know if it were a 60 hour Bunn. they would call them Type 1,2 and 3. and you would have to look for one of each. .

Pristine single sunk porcelain dial, early Roman numeral styling, and outside track for minutes and seconds.(I assume original)with tiny font label, "Rockford Watch Co. Illinois."

Winds smoothly looses a few seconds every 24hrs or so.
