I don't collect just Seths, you know. ![]() Here's one of mine, fronted by a nice Montgomery dial. ![]()
|
The interesting thing about this gold-flashed movement is the complete lack of company markings - just jewel count and serial number. ![]()
|
That's a beauty Eric. You would think that they would want to have their name all over that one. Still makes me think that "Maybe" the unmarked ones were possibly earmarked for the private label market

That sure is spectacular Eric! I've never seen that specific all-over gold inlaid damaskeening pattern before. This Grade 185 is the only one that I have that is in the same ballpark as your 184. John III
|
One thing that I find interesting about these is how highly damaskeened some of them can be, but then the Balance bridge is plain and un-matching. And on some, the balance bridge matches the rest of the watch. Here is one I picked up here on this site a year or so ago with a plain (un-matching) balance bridge that really does look out of place. Grade 172 with a production of 426 pcs.
|
Here is a nice Paillard Non Magnetic, two-tone
|
This is the grade 176 hunter. 1530 pcs produced in the grade 176 but the production numbers of the Paillard watches were too low to predict the production numbers.

I got this movement a few weeks ago, grade 185, 17 jewel, lever set, two tone. A project, needs dial, hands and a mainspring- not sure what else.
|
I just picked up a 21j Hunting case getty. serial number is 1,435,706. Can anyone tell me what grade it is? Will post pictures when I am done going thru it. Thanks, Jared

Should be a grade 184, looks like only a total of 336 made like yours. I look forward to the photos. Tom
|
Here it is. Private label dial for Hyman, Berg & Co. from Chicago.
|
Here is the movement. Pretty common private label illinois pattern, but I hadn't seen it in a 21 jewel hunting case before.

I have this Getty that I think is a model #4 with 15 jewels. Since it is a hunter movement, it is not in it's original case.

Krister, not sure if you know or not but the Lambert Brothers were railroad watch inspectors for the New York Central, and the Long Island railroad. This ad is from the Evening World newspaper in NYNY 11/22/1901 Tom ![]()

Tom, I figured they could be jewelers or retailers, but I had no idea they were railroad inspectors as well. Thank you for the information. BTW, that ad is 110 years old almost to the day! Fascinating to say the least. Appreciate your work, Tom. I'll put that info together with the watch. Regards, Krister.

Looking around a little more I found where there is a trophy that is named after their father. I found this on the web; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L...t-Meadowlands_Trophy Tom

Here is an A. Lincoln Getty I picked up because of an interesting case back engraving for Moose Lodge 574 Sturgis, Michigan. Serial #2261792, Adjusted 5 Positions, Double Roller ![]()

I recently purchased this JMR Railroad Dispatcher Special not running. After installing a new mainspring, crown, bow, and doing a COA it seems to be running good. RR ![]()

I have a few of these movements if anyone is interested. I pulled six out to take a picture. I do have several complete watches if anyone is interested I could post any of these in the auction site here. If not they will eventually go on Ebay.
|
Rob- Any railroad officials, railroad dispatchers, or jmr dial ones? there's more than just me that would be interested in it here on the site if you do. Thanks, Jared
|
I always wanted a Lincoln, Rob. Is that one pictured complete?
|

Jared no not in this group this is just 6 I pulled out I still have others I havent even gone through. I would sell more here but I never know what people here are looking for. Maybe I will try a few.

Eric here is other side The only one that doesnt look complete is the Burlington as it has a metal Illinois dial and no hands. The Lincoln dial has a couple hairlines and the hands show rust probably from a yellowed crystal. It does tick though and sets fine but the mainspring must be broken no resistance.

I have a nice Fancy Dial for a hunter model I am thinking of using on one of the 21 jewel models I have.

Rob I'll buy the multi color dial if you have a price in mind.

Rob how much for the Abe Lincoln I love the dial.

Gene I will get to your email after the first that responded. I like to give first responders the chance as it is only fair. I guess I need to try to post more here With emails I got on this.

I agree. First responders First. I normally go to the very last post of a topic that I'm watch. then back track up. Especially since this one is 2 pages long and I been watching and responding since the beginning . After I posted I seen that Eric asked about the Abe Lincoln. Thank you Rob
|
Rob- some of them may be good items to throw into the auctions page here and let the wolves go at it over it! Jared
