Does anyone have any info on this watch I have. I know it is 18 size and it is a Special RR King. Does anyone know how many were made. The dial is a bigger question Does anyone know how many were made with this dial?

Closeup of the inscription. Someone informed me that there was a write up years ago. I am trying to locate it.

I have the February 1982 NAWCC Bulletin with a short article on some of these Rare RR Watches Below is a paragraph on this watch. No wonder I did not get much responce on it if so little are known to exist. Just think I have 2 in my collection, but time to say good bye and sell one.

Here are the Waltham serial numbers of the movements marked "Special RR King" that we have recorded in our database.
2,065,931
3,065,931
3,853,040
3,854,197
3,854,455
3,994,016
4,028,174
4,064,830
4,260,432
4,300,588
4,300,676
4,300,782
4,338,527
4,338,650
4,500,650
4,632,794
4,678,883
5,551,061
5,551,626
7,133,137
7,135,115
7,135,204
7,135,428
7,581,491
7,864,306
8,321,677
8,321,939
8,652,266
8,652,352
All examples are 18 size Model 1883 movements. Most, but not all, of the earlier ones are Grade 25, most of the later ones are P S Bartlett. The majority are 17 jewels, but there are a couple of 15 jewels and one 19 jewel (4,300,782) Pretty even division between open face and hunting and between lever and pendant setting. Most have the specially marked dials, I would guess that the others have been changed out at some point. Oh, and the specially marked dials were made with both Roman and Arabic numerals. Three examples in the database have the specially marked fancy dials.

I guess that bulletin article was a little off saying only 12 known to exist Razz Hey Ed I will post my other movement so you can add that serial number to your list also. It has the original dial also but looks as though it is a recase.
