Is there a way to determine when a 4992B was built and sold? Thanks.

Yes, if you are a member of the ***** you have access to the Hamilton Ledgers. You can request information based on serial number. There is a lot of information there but in particular Hamilton kept very good records during the WWII era with the military purchases. If you are in luck you may get some information in regards to the "Finished" and Sold To" dates you are looking for.
I for one am not a member but I am sure there is an IHC member that does belong to them and may get the information for you as a favor.
There may be other ways to access the Hamilton Ledgers but I do not know of any. I have found that military watches such as Hamilton 4992B's, Model 22's, Model 23's should have these dates. I have not been able to get information regarding 992B's and 3992B's. Regard, M
Hopefuly there is a member that can elaborate further and obtain the information you would like.

I've never heard of any surviving Hamilton ledgers for the 4992B's (4C prefix movement numbers).

Ehrhardt's Hamilton book says there were 96,042 of the original 24-hr dial, center seconds configuration produced 1941-1946. Shugart's Complete Price Guide to Watches has a serial number & date table on page 219 (2011 Edition).

Best Regards,

Dan, I'm sure Ed is correct in this matter as well.
I am still a Freshman among Seniors on many levels here. The Finished and Sold to dates are still of a mystery. The US Government code is known to be "64" but the digit code after that is still unknown. The ledgers will show a number like 64-1777 for example. "64" meaning US Govt and the other ????.

I sent a note to one of the members of the group you mentioned (the auto term crawler turns the letters into "*"s) a while back and he was kind enough to provide me with the information about when my 4992B (Military) watch was built and sold from info found one of the ledger pages. I thought that perhaps IHC might have copies of these ledgers as well, but perhaps "Group to be left un-named" has the only copies?

The ledgers do contain information on some or perhaps all 4992B's, for example mine is 4C35723. the hand written ledger shows it was finished & sold on 09/30/43 to 64-12474. Unfortunately no records have come to light that I identify the government contract numbers.

Eugene,
As of yet I have not been able to find any information in the Hamilton Ledgers for my 3992B or 992B. Here is a little excerpt that a friend wrote me regarding the Hamilton 3992B and information:
"In a post from 2005 Dallberg at the library in Columbia said he thinks there are ledgers as to the exact production and sales of the 3992b but as of today they are not available on line.Frown "

And also not available within the "association to be unamed" records as well within the ledgers. Hopefully this information will come to light someday. I was disapointed as well when researching my 3992B seen below. Regards, M
