This is a Illinois watch display that I picked up today at the local Fleamarket.

It is an Illinois wristwatch that looks like a Marquis, I payed good money for it. I have not had any time to research it. It is marked display #6 I would like to know how many of these produced. It has a Sangamo electric clock inside not working. If any one owns one and knows how to open it let me know.

Here is a close up of the tag.
It is marked DISPLAY WATCH NO. 6

A local Sangamo Collector in my area Les McAlister responded to an email I sent him.

"CONGRATULATIONS!!! Sangamo made both a wristwatch and pocket watch version for the Illinois watch company, which were never sold, but traveled from Jewelry store to Jewelery store.

You came to the right place, as I have had Sangamo mainsprings reproduced and have a ready supply."

Actually, I have seen one of these clocks before. And, by the way, it is not a Marquis. It is a Illinois Beau Brummel clock. Smile

This is #6 of who knows how many. Any Info would be appreciated. Thanks for the info that it is a Beau Brummel not a Marquis. Rick

Yes you are correct it is a Sangamo Clock that was a display/ advertising piece for the Illinois Watch co.

There were actually 2 models [Big Tick] that look like a pocket watch.

And little tick that looks like mine.

Here are 2 more Illinois watch displays from the illinois Watch co. I do not own these two. So the big question is how many where made.

Wow , I would love the pocket watch ! You can still contact the buyer on ebay , the phone number may be harder -i think ebay wants to know every word said . What a unique piece , I think I would "make my own" if it came down to it , some styrofoam and fibre-glass and anything you can think up can be made !
