The old saying "Spring Ahead / Fall Back" is in "Fall Back" mode this weekend. Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday morning at 2:00 a.m. for most of us. Clocks will be set back by one hour, instituting Standard Time until March 8th of 2026 when Daylight Time will return for the Spring and Summer months. Firefighters use the time change to remind us this is also a good time to change batteries in home smoke detectors. The time on our IHC185 Discussion Site™ resets automatically as do many modern devices in our homes today. For everything else including all our cherished mechanical watches and clocks this weekend is the time to reset them one hour back. Here are a couple suggestions that might be of help, see what you think... The easiest and safest way to reset a mechanical clock to go back one hour is to stop it for just over an hour and then set the correct time. This is especially important with chiming clocks to avoid damage to the devices that trigger the chiming mechanism. Likewise, watches with day / date complication should never be turned backwards at an indicated time between 9:00 pm and 3:00 am for the same reason. Being careful is always the best policy. Goofy has that part right... time to FALL BACK! ![]() | ||
