Sharp looking Seiko, Rich.
I must confess that I have a few (2)Seiko "automatics" (military) not as sharp as yours though!

Timely regards.

Roy.

Hi Everyone!

Today I wore my 17J Valengine Watch Co. watch. Has anyone heard of this watch company?

Morning, Stephanie.

Lovely dial!

Do you know how old timepiece is?

The dial seems to be a copy of some of the old "Elgin" pocket watches or of that era!

Might be worth posting thread in PW section?

Photo of movement?

Very nice.

Timely regards.

Roy.

Hi Roy!
Thanks!

The gold case has a greenish cast. I try not to disturb movements in w/w's as I've encountered problems in the past.

Seller told me the watch was from the 1920's. It keeps great time. The pic doesn't pick up the beautiful light blue in the center of the watch.

Hello Stephanie.

Yes, a nice little timepiece I would agree around the 1920's. I note "Switzerland!" and not Swiss Made!

Timely regards.

Roy.

I just can not see how to attach the strap!
Sorry .

Really I am wearing a cheap 1960 Helbros self winder. $3.50 from eBay.

The Illinois rides shotgun in my pocket all the time.

Hey Samie!
That is one cool watch! Cool

Dave,
Thanks! I will try to get more shots of my Valengine wristwatch and post soon!
New Orleans is not in great shape as all know. I'm thankful no destruction to my home. Minor stuff that has been resolved.

I've just finished restoration of this Hamilton "Barrel" model to wear today. This is a white gold-filled earliest version of the Barrel, with case made by Wadsworth.

Samie, excellent Longines. Fantastic case, I have not seen one like it before! Movement? Date?

Dan, a superb crisp "Hamilton!" Lovely Dial!
Have you had the dial refinished or is it original?

Roy.

The above Barrel dial is refinished, as are the hands, in what is called "aged radium" - but alas I don't know which refinisher does this color.

It was apparently developed to avoid bright green, too modern looking, markings on older watches.

Dan,
was your dial refinished in the U.K. or the U.S. ?

Dial done in the USA, but I don't know where as it was arranged by an intermediary, and I have thus no easy way to find out.

But members may know - or just ask the few remaining dial refinishers about "aged radium"
