A friend brought this watch to me today to "find out" about it. What I know about watches would fit with room left over in this watch. The dial states: Lady Elgin, with a little "scrolly thing". The Case(inside) states: Cased and Timed by Elgin National Watch Co., Schwab & Wuischpard, 14k gold, 222688 The back plate of the movement states:L331743, 19 Jewels, Elgin 619. Any info would be greatly appreciated....

Greg, This watch has a 21/0s movement, grade 619, 19J made around 1945. Between 1940 & 1948, there were 635000 of these made.

thanks, you said "grade 619", is that good? greg

Greg, "619" happens to be the grade number of the watch. Higher grade numbers doesn't mean a better watch. I believe Elgin assigned grade numbers from 1 to 999.

What would be the approx. cost to have it cleaned and is anyone up to the task. It's been running for a couple of days. greg
