Andy KrietzerClocks in the movies "Nosferatu"
This is Friday the 13th, so I though this is a good day to post pictures of two clocks used in the movies.
The first clock is in the 1922 "Nosferatu" with Max Schrek, filmed in Germany. It has a small skeleton on the top of the clock which strikes the hour on a glass bell under it. I believe it is a scythe it is ringing the bell with. There is no good view of the whole clock in one picture. The first view only shows the dial up, the second view is of the base. There was no view of the skull. These pictures were taken for a TV screen, the reason for the poor quality.

Andy KrietzerThis is the clock made for the 1979 "Nosferatu, the Vampyre" movie with Klauss Kinskie. The clock was designed by Henning von Birke (spelling?), and made by the special effects department.
When it stikes midnight, first the skull on top opens up, and a smaller skeleton raises up. It is striking a small bell, as a gong is also striking. Then the two doors on the body of the clock open, a skeleton with a scythe exits the door on the left, goes across swinging the scythe, then goes in the door on the right.
