Thanks, Ted. I'm working my way through the many Hampden threads and getting some excellent information. My main focus up until now has been Hamiltons, but the Hampdens have really captured my imagination recently. The company has a fascinating history and their watches are easily on par with anything Hamilton ever made.

You're right about that Chris. You've probably noticed that the 18s Hamiltons are pretty much based on Hampden's design.I too have a few Hamiltons ( 992L,940, 936, 978),but they have gotten so expensive today, that I gave up on trying to get any more.I have been collecting Hampdens all my life, they still aren't that much appreciated, but they are great watches, and the cost isn't as bad as the others. It would be nice to have some kind of Hampden site or club!

Have one to add.

Open Face
21 Jewels
No. 555
Ser # 3697312

Love this watch. Didn't know much about it however I did see someone had one on Bay for over a grand. Oh well mine is in better shape and asking 1/3 less. I will hate to see this go but I figure it should be in the care of someone that can adore it more then I. So I better add this Ser# before it sales incase they don't add it.

If it don't sale I will keep it and hand it down to my Son.
