I bought a nice Columbus on eBay about six months ago. I slipped with a screwdriver and messed up the hairspring so I had to send it out for repair. (stupid screwdriver anyway). I liked the log dial so much I just had to have it. Loved it ever since.

The paper that was in the watch is the case maker of course but when I took the paper out I found the photo of the little boy, and the writing on the back which reads......"Sold to N Groff, Jan.(short form perhaps) 1891, C. Miller" I couldn't find out anything about the boy, or the name on the back of the paper so I'll just make up my own lies later.

Some really great movements and dials, especially the log dials. I guess I'll have to pay more attention to Columbus.

Hi All

This 18s New Columbus dial is on a 11j hunter movement with a serial number near the end of Columbus watch company production (379138) shortly before the sale to the Studebakers.

That's what I was thinking but the price guide doesn't show any 2 tones with 17J. Or, am I wrong about the 2 tone?

@Mike Turk

Cleaning the dial quite often works wonders,
read and follow instructions and precautions very carefully:

Nice watch Dave!

I like the higher jeweled Columbus models in the 500000-506000 movement number range.
