The Overlands are nice little watches Roger and uncommon. I think I have one around here someplace that I always hoped to maybe find a etched "stagecoach scene" case for it. But alas, I've never seen one of those, but if anyone has one, I'm you're Huckleberry Big Grin

bb

Roger, the movement has been recased into the present case....

Since the movement is a 1904 vintage the hands on the watch are railroad watch hands of the 30's & 40's introduction, I would expect to see Elgin #2059 or #1319 hand sets on an original....the second hand is a correct #2066 hand....

The dial looks to be a D-45 and is a correct dial for the movement....

That is my take on the watch, Roger....It may not be an original configuration but would certainly make a fine carry watch....

Maybe others can bring more information as well....

Regards,

Jerry

Roger, if you like the case that you have now, I would not change it because no matter what you do the movement will still be recased....and the case you have now looks like a nice case....

You can go here to the Elgin database and take a look at the Elgin hands and it will at least tell you what to look for....

Elgin Documents & Pictures.... look at the #2059 or #1319....

Good luck,

Regards,

Jerry

Jerry,I have to concur with you.It is in a nice case, with the exception of the bird on it,just don't like birds on cases. Thanks for the Elgin info.I printed it out I know this will help me.Brad,I could not find my hands on the site. They had some for Elgin's 16&0 sizes. Some Hamilton"s& Illinois hands. The hands on my watch look to be either Illinois or Hamilton. Thanks Roger

Nice Overland Roger!.Nice to see that somewhere along the line they had the good sense to get rid of those horrible half-head case screws that many of those full plate Elgins had.Best Regards, Ted.

That's strange Roger. They have a whole section of Elgin 18s hands. They even had the "tulip" ones. There's two different sites for them. Regards, Brad
