Rob, that's reverse painting on glass. I got it on ebay then had it put into a custom frame. I had to touch up a few spots of gold that had peeled off the glass, but it turned out pretty well. I had a feeling somebody would be commenting on the picture before commenting on the machinist's chest or handy-dandy spice rack.

Dave, thank you so much for that tip concerning the white apron. I went out to Walmart and bought one this morning along (with some self-stick velcro). When I got home, it took less than 15 minutes to set it up with the velcro. I went with 4 very small tabs so it would pull away easily if necessary as Joe had suggested. I'm not into tiddle-de-winks, but the next time something becomes airborne I feel much more prepared. Anything that keeps me off the floor is a plus

It sure beats crawling around on your hands and knees trying to find a metal flyspeck.

Three days ago a seconds hand that I had been broaching out for 25 minutes (and it was almost done) went flying. I looked for 30 minutes on "the big bench"...the floor I used a bright flashlight at a low extreme angle to the floor because that often shows things up better. Then I went to work with the magnet...still nothing. I finally gave up...that is when I stuck something in my finger while pulling the chair over to me. Turned out to be the seconds hand which happened to be stuck in the coarse weave of my bench chair upholstery! Unfortunately, at this point it looked more like a pretzel than a seconds hand. I think this apron is going to be one of my more important tools when working at the bench! By the way, when I asked the lady in Walmart where the aprons were, she brought me over to where they were on display. She apologized for the fact that she only had white. I said "no mame, that is exactly what I am looking for!!

I've seen some pictures of street watchmakers in Asia/ middle east and in many of the pictures I've seen they have a sort of glass box that they work in, I think it is a very cleaver idea but I'm not sure if it is practical for home use
