hi Francis ; a bit more searching and I found that Illinois made a Lakeshore movement for a chicago retail store I think that's a possible though the spelling of the letter "I"as a "J" is confusing to me maybe it was to make it look like they didn't make it LOL

Tom the seller did say it was Illinios Lake Shore, Private label . I have cleaned it up since i post the photos and it is a J for sure. Even the Wife whom is pandantic as said J for sure.... the plates seem very roughtly made, may be a fake or just poorly made. which is unusual.

Tom I believe that your first indication is correct, a Swiss fake.... I looked at other Lakeshore in Ebay and they were very clearly marked Illinois and with Jewel count as well, unlike mine which is very roughtly made.... and crappy workmanship. The materials are not consistant either... Thanks for ur help Tom

Hampden made a Lakeside and I have seen a Hampden marked Lakeshore. It was a key wound nickle plate 18s and if memory serves I believe it was a private label. Illinois made a Lakeside and I have had 2 versions, one marked special and the other not so marked. I owned a nice example of a Swiss fake marked Lakeshore. These used to be called Gypsy watches because they were loaded with big glass jewels that did nothing and they were sold by peddlers to rural folks. One of my old Iowa farmer relatives got a kick out of telling me that about 50 years ago. I think his dad got taken with one. Anyway I feel sure yours is a Swiss fake.

Deacon is correct in that Hampden does make a Lakeside in fact we have one that sold here a few weeks ago....
Lakeshore is made by Illinois as seen below, one that I recently purchased for the case mainly, but this was inside....It is not running at the present time....
