DOES THE ILLINOIS 18S BALANCE STAFF FRICTION TYPE??

I'M WANTING TO CHANGE THE STAFF IN AN 18S ILLINOIS AND DON'T WANT TO RUIN THE BALANCE TO DO IT. THERE WAS A PREVIOUS POST ON THIS SUBJECT OF CHANGING STAFFS BUT HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND IT. PLEASE RE-POST IT OR ADVISE ME AS TO THE HOW TO ON THIS ONE.

I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE WAS A DISCUSSION OF THIS PROCEDURE POSTED A WHILE BACK. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE ADVISE ME AS TO THE CORRECT PROCEDURE OR WHEN IT WAS POSTED? YOUR HELP IS APPRECIATED HIGHLY.

THANKS BILL VAUGHAN

Bill,

I am not the best qualified person in this area but I'm sure we will hear from others.

To get you started, here is a link to a link to "Illinois 18s Balance Staff" which appears to get into specifics. And here is the IHC185 Illinois Parts Catalogue, December 1923 which may also be of assistance.

By the way, your movement number will help in this!

Let us know how it works out.

Best always,

Lindell
