Veritas Grade 350 The Price Guide says Diamond End Stones. I swear every one I have looked at (pictures and in person) appear to have a ruby or pale pink jewel, including the one I have s/n 12717731. Anyone know?

Hard to tell sometimes Roger with out being at the right angle with the light. Normally you would see the facets cut on the stone

Thanks Bila, that's what it looks like to me. The price guide says this grade has a diamond end stone. Whereas, the Elgin database and pocketwatch data base does not mention it. Me thinks the price guide is wrong! Roger

Roger - Congrats on the exceptional low-production Veritas. Advertisements promoting the Grade 350 Veritas describe the movement as featuring "twenty-three ruby and sapphire jewels" without any mention of a diamond end stone. In addition, Elgin material catalogs designate part #2582 for the Grade 350 upper balance cap jewel, identified as "Rosy Ruby" in the 1915 Material Catalog. This documentation appears to be consistent with your movement. Dearborn Watch & Clock Co. I've always wondered why Elgin switched to that model 7 plate layout, and then went back to the model 15 curved plate style.Come to think of it, weren't they also made in 3 finger bridge too? I know B.W. Raymond's were. They all are beautiful movements!
