Hi to my extended family here at Chapter 185!

Wanted to let everyone know I have returned home after a six week evacuation.

My house did not get any water damage, some wind damage though. I've been busy trying to line up people to do the repairs and that has been almost impossible at this time.

Thanks to everyone for your genuine concern. I'll never forget it.

Hi Stephanie,
Ditto to what everyone said above. I hope you can get back into the swing of things quickly, and, of course, I hope all your home repairs go smoothly.

Good to have you back Stephanie! Speaking from experience, be very careful in hiring contractors after a hurricare, make sure they have a valid permit and don't be in haste to agree to a price-you wouldn't believe how inflated some of the estimates are. Roof jobs that were $2-3,000 went to $6-12,000 overnight here after Ivan, plywood went to $25-35 a sheet. If you can make do or fix it yourself, the prices come down, although not to pre-hurricane levels. Well, hope for the best for you, really glad to see you back!

My good friends here at Chapter 185, I do appreciate your thoughts, prayers, and kind sentiments from all.

I'm glad to be back too, particularly here at Chapter 185!

I rode by New Orleans neighborhoods recently and was so shocked by what I've seen. It is really sad to see these neighborhoods literally destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Piles upon piles of rubble, once personal belongings strung about on street medians. New Orleans area will not be the same for a very long time. Many people who evacuated will not be returning due to numerous reasons, one of which is the total loss due to many people not having flood insurance. Others are getting their checks from their insurance companies and are moving on as well.

People are saying New Orleans will be BIGGER & BETTER, but not for a VERY long time. Neighborhoods in my Metairie area suffered much damage as well. I'm fortunate, very fortunate.

Looks like you were fortunate to have dodged a very big and dangerous bullet!

We're all glad for that and happy to have our Stephanie back with us.

Your wit and gracious good will to all was very much missed.

Welcome back,

Lindell
