I have a Waltham 6s 7j model 1889 and I have a couple of dumb quesitons. 1) This is a hunter movement (obviously), is it also a pendent set? I ask because I can't seem to set the time. 2) What is the hole with the star around it on the movement that is in line with the stem? I looked at it with a loupe but could not figure out what it is or if it is missing a screw, etc. Also, it appears that the Waltham lookup site is down. Thanks in advance. Jim

Jim The stem setting mechanism on many of these becomes very stiff when they neeed cleaning. If it was lever set, the lever is at the 4-5 o'clock position on the crystal bezel. The hole with the star is where you insert a thin screwdriver into a (unseen) slot in the end of the winding stem. That locks the winding stem so you can unscrew the crown and remove the movement.

Thanks Dave! I was being a little tentative on pulling the stem.
