I had often wondered if this watch was ever made with a black dial, then I spotted one on, you guessed it, Fleabay....Well anyway, I won it after fighting off a dozen or so pursuiters and didn't pay too much of a preimum, I don't think.... Big Grin

#2 - BTW this is a Gr. 543 Elgin, 21j, 10s with a 14s dial,s/n J370827 with a production date of 1947....

Bezel removed....

It looks like it has the same type regulator as the Elgin BWR 571!

Hey Mark, the regulator does look very similar to the one's used on the 571's....since I'm no watchmaker, I won't say definitively that it is though....I timed it with the computer for 36 hours and they were within 1 min. of each other at the end...

I agree Samie, I have a few other 543's but this is my first with a black dial....I think it looks kinda 'kool'.... Wink I'll probably make it my 'Sunday go to Meetun' watch, if you know what I mean....
