I have several Illinois Central watches in various models. Quite a few Red Dot Trolley watches in the mix.

This watch came available with a 25yr IC special case and a humble 304 17J unadjusted movement... serial number:3007954. Quite the pedestrian movement to back a Montgomery dial.

I don't know for sure, but am beginning to feel that the IC Special case stands for Illinois Central Special and makes these "triple signed" watches.

Does anyone out there know the highest grade available as an Illinois Central signed movement?

The serial number on the movement dates this watch to 1916. Can anyone confirm the styling on the dial matches that time frame?

This is the best a quick search brought up.

"The change over from straight to arch seems to come about 1917"

Ehrhardt-Meggers "Gold Book" lists 16s "Illinois Central" in 17J, Grades 304-305 and 21J grade 606 all Pendant setting and with only 3 adjustments. In each case it declares to be collectable, these need the "matching dial" as you have illustrated.

The grade 606 had a total production of 7630 movements in 21 different runs sn's 2415101-4811000.

The Grade 606 also included production of some "Pennsylvania Special" and Great northern Special" movements.
