Elgin Veritas Grade 350 serial #'s wanted "Click" to Login or Register
posted
Hello everyone,
I am collecting serial #'s for the Elgin 23 jewel Veritas grade 350.
There was only 1 run of 1,000 watches between serial numbers 12,717,001 thru 12,718,000.
Any known numbers for my database would be greatly appreciated.

Ray,

Looks like quite a hill to climb! Checking Wayne Schlitt's On-Line Elgin Database for your number 12717863 there is a "Search eBay Logs for 350 Watches" which brings up the following numbers...

12717289

12717562

12717610

12717783

Perhaps that will add a couple to your list. Big Grin And to research posts on our site try "Find-Or-Search" tab which can locate some interesting answers. Here's the one Bob used to find Larry's watch...

"Find-Or-Search" for "Elgin 350" on all IHC185 forums.

Enjoy the hunt, let us know what turns up!

This new addition joins my Gr 453, which I con only see the model 15 plate cuts to justify a separate listed grade.

I am still puzzling at the ornate but micro-engraved "U3966" (arrow) under the case s/n 1899043 along with about 50 service signatures. btw this case says "Illinois Watch Co., Elgin USA BONA FIDE! Anybody have a clue why they have to add "BONA FIDE"?

Thanks David,
It's a beauty, congrats on the win. It has been added to the growing list.
I don't know what the markings on the case was for but has to special if it's "BONA FIDE" right?

Ray, Those two pics of the mvt and the "Bona Fide" case are of my grade 453. The grade 350 I won has not arrived yet. More on that when it does. It's interesting that there are two completely different 16s Elgin "Veritas" movements so close together. The grade 453 being a model 15 movement, whereas the 350 grade is the model 7 type that is not cut with the 3 false,'swissy lookin' fingers.
