Interesting PBS Show On Clocks and Pocket Watches

It is unfortunate that they removed and replaced parts rather than restoring to the original condition.

Wow!!! what a historical "railroad regulator",in the very truest meaning of the phrase. Makes my Grand trunk Railroad System Seth Thomas #17 pale by comparison , envy Frown begrudging admiration Wink sheer joy in the love of great historical clocks or watches Big Grin

Yeah, I watched it last night & it is going to be run again later in the week, at least here. I thought it was interesting.

From the program, it was my understanding it was only reconditioned and the wiring removed. Nothing else was changed. Did I miss something?
Confused

Interesting video and a sad commentary on the state of science education in our schools. The supposedly well-educated commentator had no clue what was inside the mercury-regulated pendulum on that regulator clock.

I guess today's science classes don't pass around a beaker with some mercury in it for the kids to roll around and play with as my 5th grade science class did. I rubbed some on a silver dime and made it look brand new. Big Grin

Best Regards,

Ed
