About the time of this watch's manufacture James J Hill Expanded the Great Northern Railroad right of way west from Duluth MN through Wadena to connect with his tracks out to Seattle/Vancouver. This way he created much lower cost (amd far more profitable) Rail/Shipping through the Port of Duluth East to carry iron and copper ore, produce and materials from the Greater Northwest than having to taking it by rail down through Chicago and then by rail to points east. A fastastic step in the Genius of the Empire Builder/Founder of the Great Northern Railroad, Mr. James J. Hill.

Bill, Great looking watch. Private labels give collectors an added treat to their watch collecting.

So far I am having trouble finding any census data on JR. I did find this in the The Jewelers' Circular and Horological Review Sept 17, 1902. Tom
