This way he created much lower cost (amd far more profitable) Rail/Shipping through the Port of Duluth East to carry iron and copper ore, produce and materials from the Greater Northwest than having to taking it by rail down through Chicago and then by rail to points east. A fastastic step in the Genius of the Empire Builder/Founder of the Great Northern Railroad, Mr. James J. Hill.
