Does anyone know what this Waltham was used for. Car clock? Ships clock? Salesman sample? Store display piece? I have not seen anything like it. According to my Waltham book, serial number 15148291 should be a 18s model 1877 with 7-11 jewels. This does not look like a '77 & it has 17 jewels. It is housed in a Waltham Watch Co. case with a display back. The crown is larger than normal also. The case has two extensions, one at the 12:00 & 6:00 which looks like it might have been in some type of standard so it could swivel. Any ideas? Thanks, Jim ![]()

This is not a large piece. It measure's 51mm (size of a 16s watch) x 20mm. Thanks again, Jim

James, You have a nice Hunter-cased movement in a legitimate Waltham Sales Display case. Oftentimes these were carried about by the salesmen to "show of" in a Display box too. The clips allowed quick interchange of the movements "on show". ![]()

Thanks David. I thought it might be something like that. I had never seen one. Thank you for the photo of what the box & holder looks like. That helps a lot! Are these hard to come by? What are the odds of finding the box, slim to none?

James, They show up from time to time in eBay watch parts and accessories.
