Seth Thomas needs repairs "Click" to Login or Register
posted
Hello group,
I am a new member and this is my first post.
I have always been fascinated with watches and have started a small collection.
I have in possession a size 18 Seth Thomas in a hunter case that requires a crystal.
I'd like to maybe get if disassembled, cleaned and oiled to boot.
Who do you recommend I send this piece to?
Thanks,
Lou

Welcome Lou: On your Profile it says you are from South Texas. How far south are you in Texas. We go to McAllen every year about Feb - March.

Hi Eugene,
I'm in Corpus Christi to be exact... you pass right by me on the way to the valley ...

To the people that live McAllen... they think it's funny when anyone north of them claims to be from "South Texas" ...

you can't get any further south in Texas then they are I suppose...

Wink

Thanks again for the warm welcome...

My parents have been snow birds there far about 8 years. We spend about 10 days at McAllen.

Thank you Brian

Thank you Steven...

I think you are right about the 12.00.... small price to pay for reliable information sources..

I received my 2013 Guide to Watches today... lots of reading to do...

I'm a beginner to the inside workings of Horology, but my fascination and appreciation for beautiful mechanical objects, specifically watches, goes back to my childhood....

I am a new collector as well ... I have a couple of choice wrist watches and I love the Seth Thomas pocket watches... I have been able to collect a few here and there... nothing rare or high end Seth Thomas... but I cherish them all the same..

Thank you Dave,
This is a great site.... I've been reading and learning a lot in the last few days...

I wish I had taken this fascination I have with watches a little more serious when I was much younger... I feel I'm playing catch up now...

No worries... better later then never ...

Thank you for the warm welcome....

Smile

Although he is to modest to say, David Abbe, our host and moderator, also does great work on watches. I have had David repair several of my watches, the most recent being a 409 grade 12s Illinois and a 510 grade 12s Illinois. He is very quick on his turn around time and more than fair on his costs. As long as David is accepting work he will get all of mine.
