How do I set this watch ? "Click" to Login or Register
posted
I have a Quaker City Watch and can not seem to find the way to open the dial to set the hands, it is a K/W K/S watch, but there appears no clip to allow the movement to open. Any help.
Thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill interesting watch. So this case has no front openning? The movement is placed in from the back? I had a case like that, but was meant for early 18s late 1800's Elgins that were pendent set. You have a nice case, just have to figure out how to set the time.

Have a look here;

It is not the hidden key case but it is attached the same way: a ring with the movement, the pendant and the dust cover lifts out of the front case.
Laying there for years they are ofte baked together by dust and dirt.

Gerald and Roland,
Thanks for the kind words and informatin. Upon reading the attached link, I found that if I held the stem assembly firmly and gave a pull the movement and dust cover came out of the external case. Interestingly I have had this watch for quite awhile now, and am sure I must have set it at some stage of my life. Anyhow have it figured out thanks to you folks, and as long as I do not forget, should be fine. Think I will write on my tag how to do it
Thanks again,
Bill

I believe this is called a "pair case", Bill.

I have one on my 1878 KW Waltham.

The entire movement lifts out for setting the time.

Yes my case is exactly like yours there.
I must ask how do you shine that case like that, It's spectacular.
Very nice.

I would've had to resort to steel wool, but I wisely sent it to Chris with instructions to "Shoot the moon"!

I think he used the inside of a banana peel.
