I was just joking Michael. I would not have sold you the dial if I thought you were going to sell it. Lets hope you are able to keep it a long long time. Smile

Congratulations on making it a solid 'keeper' now! Smile

Maybe this needs to just be in the pocket watch section now.

Regard! Mark

Nice watch Mike,

And for the record, I never meant to imply you should put a single sunk dial on this watch.

Over the years, Jobbers have placed double sunk dials on old 974's... there are two available today... they come up routinely at pretty fair prices because many sellers don't realize the dial is worth as much or more than the watch they have it mounted on.

The gilt trimmed 974s and 975s were normally furnished by Hamilton with double sunk dials so frequently when one turns up with a DS dial it is the GT version.

I actually did a search for Hamilton 974s on Ebay after Paul posted his message. There were two that had double sunk dials exactly like the one I bought from Harry. But the price on both of those watches was much more than what Harry was asking for his dial. So I bought the dial from Harry, because I have no need of a 974 movement.
