Sometimes a watch exudes a certain feeling, and the very early production Aurora I listed recently on IHC185 for auction was one of those "sometimes" watches.

While the auction got a "Ho-Hum" response, John Grennan digified his earnest winning bid with a request that I restore it . . . the movement started out looking like this . . .

While I had to use my little home camera, I had to show the difference. This watch is ALL ORIGINAL, and all nearly perfect. After cleaning out a few pounds of coal dust, and polishing all the pivots and the important things that a watch needs for service, it lit up immediately with just a few clicks of spring wind power.

Watches like this that we restore are proof that great stuff still lurks in the corners of peoples closets, attics, garages, barns, etc.

This is a heirloom watch John, there is no place in the Price guide for a watch like this because it is PRICELESS!

Thank you for the opportunity to visit this watch it was very very special to someone and remains so today!

btw; This 11 Jewel Movement is one of those honest jeweling jobs with paired Jewels for the 4th and escape wheels making it run very well.

Thank you Dave, it is indeed a work of art. I always think about honoring the dignity of previous owners, if only this watch could talk. I can hardly wait to see it in person. Thank you so much.

John, I sent it to you today, and you have to teach it some humility, it has been trying to be a railroad watch for 3 days on the bench! Cool

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on it. Do you take in watches for repair?
