Hi,

Just bought this Waltham model 1857 and wanted to ask a couple of questions and get some opinions as to it being period correct. I wasn't for sure if the dial was correct with the arched writing, should it be plain with no writing? Also, I'm not for sure on the case, I think it is correct as it has no other case screw marks and it looks like other Civil War era cases I have seen but I notice it does not have the fluted edge around the outside of the case ring....mine is smooth as seen in next to last picture. Are these cases coin silver?

The serial # is 129380 which I think dates it to 1864 which was during the Civil War.

Thanks for looking, comments or opinions welcomed.

Thanks
Donnie T.

Nice one Donnie. I am no expert but it looks great to me, correct or not.
