I want to share this beautiful watch with you guys. I got it for my father as a gift, and i have fallen in love with it. Its a Elgin made Ball ORRS 333 17j. Let me say that that thiis guy is a real blazer!!! It stays well within standard rr time specs. It is running 2 seconds fast in 3 days!!! The case is an Illinois watch case co silveroid of box hinge in mint pristine condition just like the dial and movement that lives inside. I want to hear what you guys my friends in the watch community think about this thing. I dont have a movement picture just yet. I will post one for you fine gentlemen shortly.

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan, the box hing case looks nice and so does the dial even from the 50,000 mile high view (lol). Looking forward to seeing the movement. Oh, once you touch one of these watches you won't want to let it go as you are already fully aware of.... hurry, go get dad something else for his b-day if you still have time...... lol Joe

Dan,

You also should learn to post pictures directly on a discussion topic as I have done with your dial pic (after blowing it up a bit). Detailed instructions are provided here:

A beautiful watch and I would think a very scarce case. I like the box hinge cases and have had them in solid gold, gold filled and silver but never silveroid. I think my silver box hinge is scarce and I cannot remember seeing one like yours.

Wow Mr.Jones i didnt think my case was that scarce i knew it was fairly uncommon. I figured that combo of watch and case was pretty nifty. You dont exactly see a 333 Elgin Ball everyday around here anyway. Thank you so much for your kindness gentlemen you sure got me felling like family. I will be ome a full paid member when i get paid next Thursday!!

Guys thanks for your comments. I managed to get my father another gift so i kept this one! I do have a question about it. I have a friend that has a Illinois Bunn special 23j motor barrel that wants to trade. The Bunn is in immaculate shape its in a E. Howard swing ring case. It has the sunburst style demaskeening pattern on the movement also. What would you guys do? I cant make up my mind i love this watch, but i really like my buddies Bunn special too. Your input would again be muchly appreciated.

Thanks,

Dan

I think that the bunn sounds like a pieced together watch. Since some one decide to pull a howard out of a shove this bunn in it. Think it as having a 57 Chevy convertible. and sliding a Ford motor in to it. So now he has a Great case that has 2 sets of screw marks. and a great watch that he should of taken the time and found a correct case for.

I would also like to invite you to join this outstanding club. That only cost $12.00 per year. I know only $1.00 a month. or 3 cents a day. where can you get so much info for 3 cents.

Do NOT trade that beautiful Elgin off! Like others have said, I've never ever SEEN a case like that, let alone a 17j ORRS inside! My first reaction when I saw your first photo was 'WOW!'

IF you had shown a Bunn Special, though I like them, would have been 'eh, another Bunn Special'.

This one is a real piece fine and rare combination!

Regard! Mark

Thanks a bunch my friends I fully intend to pay for a membership when i get paid on Thursday. I will keep the 333 i had no idea this combo was so scarce. I knew box hinge cases were few and far between, and Elgin Ball watches are also. It makes me wonder what this thing is really worth. I will not sell it now that you guys tell me to keep it. It does have sentimental value to it also thats one reason i love it so much. Thanks again my friends.
