A friend of mine owns this Ball movement. He asked me about replacing the case, dial & hands. I really don't know much about these things except that I thought the parts that he needs would be hard to come by and very expensive. If that cannot happen I believe he would just sell outright or seek a trade.
Input?

Hi Phillip, don't know what your friend has into the movement $$$ wise but to give you an idea, a decent ball model case will run $150-$185, nice hands $85 and a nice dial $100-$165. If your hawking e-bay with regularity you should be able to find what your looking for by years end or sooner. good luck regards Joe

Phil,

I believe I have a ball case and nice dial for that there movement.

Just need to know the dial feet location to make sure the dials line up. There is a difference between the 21j and 17j.

Thanks guys, he is monitoring this site. I don't have the movement so I cannot answer any questions about it.

The watch under discussion is indeed a 16-size, 17 Jewel Ball-Waltham movement.

Sixteen-Size Ball-Walthams came in 17, 19 and 21-Jewel configurations, they all use the same dial configurations and the dials would interchange between them. I likely would have several Ball-Waltham to choose from but they may have minor damage.

Perhaps Jon Hart is confusing the a Ball-Waltham with Ball-Hamilton, that often happens. Here is a topic wherein we explain how to tell the difference...

CLICK FOR: Ball-Hamilton or Ball-Waltham 16-size Movement???

Hope this helps,

Lindell

Yep - The difference is between the the Hamilton and Waltham model...

Sorry for confusing the masses and myself (Ha! ha!)

And Yes - I have tried to put a Ball Hamilton Dial on a Ball Waltham to see if it would work. It is not too far off. Maybe just clip a dial foot off and put a dab of caulking at the missing foot location... (((( JUST KIDDING )))))

Confused

I have a ball waltham and noticed that the ball waltham uses the triangle hairspring stud while the hamilton doesn't. Bill
