Just purchased a watch in a two tone case. The inside back states it's Wadsworth "Platold". A web search doesn't turn up much other than one person saying it's platinum and gold. I find that unlikely. Anyone have any idea?/

I have heard of some European cases being made of different materials, so the main part of the case could be one thing and the cuvette something else.

I'm resurrecting a pretty old topic here. I've just seen a watch for sale with the same two tone case with Wadsworth Platold stamped on the case back. Has anybody found out anything about this in the last nine years? Just curious, as I've never heard of it before. The watch itself is an Elgin so I don't know how this plays into the European theory.

Wadsworth "Platold cases have a gold filled case body with silver alloy (silveroid) front & back bezels. A popular misconception about them was that it was platinum bezels, but this is not the case.

Has anyone seen a platold case made by any other case company?All the ones I've seen were Wadsworth.I wonder if the word Platold was trademark of theirs.I have a Philadelphia 2-tone case, mine is along the same idea, gold filled center, and sterling silver back, bezel and bow.I think test are pretty nice looking cases.

I think it was a trademark name of Wadsworth Ted, I have not seen one with the Sterling bezels. Probably seen 20 or so different Platold cases of the years, all Wadsworth and all with silveroid bezels, 5 off them where mine.

As I mentioned in the previous discussion I have seen Keystone and Wadsworth versions. Platold was probably copyrighted by Wadsworth. The two tone look is quite stunning and with the silveroid bezel and back the wear would be better than gold.
