I found this case on a 992 that I picked up about a month or so ago. I thought it was just a mismatched front and back different than the case body. Today as I finally looked closely at it I find it is actually a TuTone case. The front bezel and back are silverodr, and the case body is, what looks to be, rose gold filled. The serial numbers match which leads me to believe it is correct. Have any of you seen this Keystone case configuration before?

There were some cases that were marketed with a gold ring and silveroid bezel and back. I am not sure if it was Wadsworth that referred to them as Platold cases, I have two and the number match, for me it is easier just to check the ring and the back and see if the design on the bezel matches the case back design. These are actually quite beautiful cases.

Yes Claude, the numbers all match. Platold sounds like a nice name. I think I like it. Maybe others have other comments or experiences with them. i thought it was a throw away! Idiomatically of course.

Mike I have a Hampden 105 in a similar case, although yours is much nicer. I thought mine was a mismatch also but liked the looks.

If you do a search on platold you can find some examples of these cases and I was correct Platold refers to Wadsworth but Keystone also had their version. It does look a bid different but it is a nice look. One of mine has the smooth back and bezel with a very ornate ring. I actually check on ebay from time to time looking for platold via a search, they show up from time to time.

I have one also but mine is marked "Wadsworth Platold" not "Silveroid"....

I have a 16s Philadelphia SB&B case like that, but has a sterling silver back, bezel and bow, with a YGF center, and with multi-color gold inlays on the back.I think these "2-tone"and platold cases are really cool!I don't think there are too many around...Ted.

I picked this up at a watch show/mart with Peter Kasubski as my sidekick. I really didn't look at the case other than being a mismatch. It was a nice 992, and it had a perfect 519 dial. Now I am happy just for the case. It is different, and probably correct, at least in style, so I'll keep it!

For those interested in 2 tone cases I have a 941 Hamilton in a 2 tone case for sale on ebay. Sterling silver covers, with copper or rose gold inlays over a gold filled body. Plenty of smooth pocket wear but it works just fine and is interesting.
