I have a Hamilton 12s case that when the dust cover is snapped shut the bezel springs open. Any type of adjustment possible to cure this? Thanks..Paul

Hi Paul, Without having it in-hand this is a difficult diagnosis. Sounds like the case is somewhat sprung or the bezel is worn and incapable of closing tightly any longer or a combination of problems. Trying to slightly reform the case by hand might help, but you could also pop out or break the crystal. We can no longer just find another case, every worthwhile case should be properly repaired and saved. If you want it fixed correctly and to avoid possible future problems you could send it to Leon Harris, an IHC185 Member who has a solid reputation of doing fine case repairs. An old watchmaker's trick I learned was to lay a piece of string along the hinge and close the cover over it. This bends the cover down very very slightly and can make catch hold the cover a little better. This works if the problem isn't too severe.

Lindell & William: Thanks for the response. I did apply a little pressure to the bezel and now it is flush with the case and closes properly. The crystal has been removed and i'm waiting for one from Mike. Thanks for your help. Paul
