I have a friend who lives in Canada and he showed me his Grandfather's watch. It is a 15 jewel, Swiss, HC pocket watch. I could not find a photo in the fat book that is identical. Closest was probably Rolex. I'll defer to the experts.

Thanks to Krister and Peter. it does indeed look like a Zenith. He will now know what he has. Must be a good watch as his story is as follows. Hid Grandfather dropped the watch in the snow and couldn't find it. A horse stepped on (or very near) the snow covered watch and dented it pretty badly. Later they recovered the watch and had it repaired.
It needs a service now. Are there any tricky parts to worry about?

No, I don't think so. They usually are straight forward. Like most Swiss watches however, this one has a detent stem. Easy to forget. That's about all I guess.
Regards, Krister.

Mike I seem to remember that Zenith made 16 size 21 jewel pocket watches that were approved for the Canadian roads in the early 50's. I believe they were possibly used on a few American roads but perhaps someone else has more knowledge of Zenith? I do not do much with European watches but your watch is nice looking and I like the micro regulator.

Gentlemen, as a matter if interest the 2013 Price Guide, Pg 24 says a Zenith 16 size, 21j Extra RR56 is an approved watch on the Canadian Pacific Rail system in 1957.

Thanks for your comments. Of course this one is a 15 jewel, but I thought the quality looked to be very good. My friend who owns the watch is appreciative of the information he has received on it.

The case is the Canadian equivalent to the Hamilton Railroad Model case No. 7 as you can see on my Hamilton 950E with the Canadian dial and 24 hour hands.
