South Bend 305 - no Regulator! "Click" to Login or Register

Just bought this watch listed as running well!
But, now I see the regulator is missing? How could it run well?
Anyone have a regulator?
Thanks,

Dave Turner

I saw that and thought about bidding but I noticed the regulator was missing and I decided he either did not know anything about watches or was hoping no one would notice. Either way I did not want to do business with him. Congratulations...I think. I don't have one but I know there are a couple of people here that might. Hopefully they will chime in.

Dave-

Its a south bend. They can be missing parts and still be running well, just that good of quality Big Grin. I've got one. just drop me an email. Looking quickly for the part you did make me realize that there are 2 different cock arm styles on South Bend model 2 watches. first one is like yours and the other has the hairspring stud attachment location 90 degrees to the left... never noticed it before. I would say they made a change at some point during production as yours is a little later one, but I found a 305 from low 500,000 sn with it in the same location as yours. Guess I'm going to have to check that out further...

Thanks guys,
Harry, I though I had myself trained to watch for missing parts, but this one slipped past me, before I bid on it.
This helps put my mind at ease. I'm forever searching for a part, and figured I'd just added another headache to the list.
I'll email you Jared.

The one on the left in your post is a hunter movement?

According to the database the one on the right is a 333, if that makes any difference?
Jared, I've sent you an email.

Keith-

Yes, the one on the left is a 346. And looking thru my watches here, that seems to be the difference on where the hairsring studd attaches to also. makes more sense now. hunting models have it to the left, open face have it on the end.

Pleasant ending. (I hope, I haven't seen the watch yet.) But the seller is a real nice guy. He offered right away to accept the watch back and give me a full refund. He said He didn't notice the missing regulator either.
Then Jared provided the regulator, and the seller offered to pay for that too, and He did.

I'm anxious to see what I bought.

That is the way ebay is suppose to work! Truth in advertising. If it isn't the way it is described the seller should make it right and or take the item back and give a full refund. It is possible that the watch was keeping good time without the regulator but I would not bet on that. In fact I would bet against it. But we all like a happy ending. Bravo to the seller.

Received the SB today. It's as clean as a whistle and keeps near perfect time so far, without the regulator. (For the last 5 hours anyway).
Nothing spectacular but it's my first South Bend.
