Curious if this is US or Swiss or ?: "Newport" marked movement "Click" to Login or Register

Ok - I would like to offer this for sale on IHC; however, cannot find any information on the movement. So, as to avoid incorrectly describing the watch. Would like to tap the vast knowledge base here 1st.

I would "think" the movement was made in the States since the case is Canton, Ohio (Dueber), BUT, a Newport movement is sort of Greek to me.

KS/KW

The case is 2.1 inches straight across.

Serial # is 81409

At least an eleven (11) movement

Movement and dial both stamped "Newport"

Case is stamped "Dueber Newport Coin" (90% Silver 2 oz)

Has the old school hairspring that is fastened to the movement plate, but the pressed in plate jewels are throwing me off a little.

Thanks in advance Smile

Jon,

It's Swiss. That barrel bridge form is fairly common with a variety of names on the movement. The "engraving" on the balance cock is typical for low grade Swiss movements.

Thanks Kevin Smile

I love the case too.

Just seems odd to me that a swiss movement stamped Newport would be married up with a case made in the States that is stamped Newport, too.

Maybe a local jeweler in Newport Kentucky, where the case was made had the movement personalized????

Definately Swiis Jon, gilding type colour and serial font points to this also, as well as the un-compensated balance. Smile
