I have just been looking at a Bunn I got recently, Bunn 60hr type III 1929, And noticed that under the balance cock between the words “Double Roller” There is a slot cut in the lower plates. I had a look at my other Bunns and it appears on this one only, what is it for was it a later modification to the plates? What was it for?  | ||

Hi Chris, That "slot" is a pillar plate cutout evidently added for access from the dial side for ease of adjustment. It is one of the many improvements made after the 1928 Hamilton takeover. Here is an earlier topic where we got into this subject... TOPIC: "Looks like a good Type III number to me..." I found it through typing "slot" into the "Find-Or-Search" on our site. Your other Bunn Special movements without the slot are probably somewhat earlier. Hope this is of help, Lindell  | |||

Thanks Lindell, The link explained it, I need to try the search out a little more. The one I was looking at for comparision was 5,152,xxx Another nice little thing to check for when buying. | |||
