Looked in Swigart and do not see a staff # Serial # B224668 17j 5 Position Talked to Eugene and he confirmed a Hamilton staff will work; however, there are a 434 DR, 992 DR, 992B FR, 950B, 4325 SR, My guess is the 434 DR... David or Jared - thoughts (thanks) | |||

Jon, That is basically a 1904 vintage Hamilton 974. the staff is a 434 if it is a Double Roller movmenet or a 435 if it is a Single Roller. | |||

David - Is there any trick to removing the above described movement from an original ball case? The stem is not wanting to leave the movement. Don't want to damage, bend or break anything. Crown pulls up in theory to give you less stem in the movement, but still acting like it is attached. This is not like one of the 16s 21j newer elgins with the "lock screw" that holds the stem in? | ||||

Jon is there a small screw next to the crown wheel? If there is turn it counter clockwise until it stops and then lift up on the stem. Early Hamiltons had a screw that locked the stem in but I know nothing about Ball. | |||
