Waltham Staffs for model #1908 WWII Navy PW "Click" to Login or Register
posted
Hi Folks

I recently purchased #4860 staffs on the recommendations from a number of sources including Tom @ dashto, Uncle Larry. However it is nothing like the original. Have I got it wrong, is #4860 not for model 1908 or is my 4860 not a 4860. Your help would be very much appreciated.

I have attached photos of:
(1) balance staffs; #4860 on left and the original on the right,
(2) the dial of the WWII Navy Deck Watch,
(3) the movement of the WWII Navy Deck Watch.

Regards

I have not worked on that model, though it is a rather common Royal Navy type. The staff on the left is a press-fit type, nice and easy to install and what I would have expected. The one on the right looks like one of the less expensive older types. Sometimes, military surplus balance completes are listed for sale on eBay. Maybe one of those would do the trick.

Best regards,
Greg
