Germany had a very versatile little time only clock designated for message centers. These would include communications stations, either stationary or in special military trucks and trailers.

The clock movement swings out to wind and set from the back. As you can see this one was made by Kienzle in 1940. There were other manufacturers as well.

As the war progressed, Kienzle made a few changes to the mechanism, including a larger winding knob. Some parts were made of cast zinc. The most noticeable change was the wooden case, which was painted field gray. Early clocks had a blond finish, as you can see in this comparison:

As issued, these clocks came packed in a protective case. Early clocks had a black leather case. Late war clocks came with a case made of artificial leather, such as this one.
