The clock movement swings out to wind and set from the back. As you can see this one was made by Kienzle in 1940. There were other manufacturers as well. ![]() | |||

As the war progressed, Kienzle made a few changes to the mechanism, including a larger winding knob. Some parts were made of cast zinc. The most noticeable change was the wooden case, which was painted field gray. Early clocks had a blond finish, as you can see in this comparison: ![]() | |||

As issued, these clocks came packed in a protective case. Early clocks had a black leather case. Late war clocks came with a case made of artificial leather, such as this one. ![]() | |||
