A friend of mine want,s me to service this Seth Thomas # 50 movement and replace the mainsprings..Someone told him the springs for this model movement are hard to find.. One of the questions i have is will these springs be hard to find,,the springs are not broke but have several stress cracks... i also have a question on the pendulam rod it is just about broke into and is made of wood ,can i find a replacement rod ..from where the pendulam rod hooks on the movement to the bottom of the pendulam is 42 inches...the dial on the clock is 20 inches in dia.. ![]() | ||

the pendulm is 8 inches in dia. and very heavy. ![]() | |||

I'm wondering how it would work to splice the pendulum rod with something like a butterfly key splice. Has anyone ever tried this? (I'm assuming the current rod is original and that there would be some value in keeping it, if possible.) | ||||
