A friend of mine want,s me to service this Seth Thomas # 50 movement and replace the mainsprings..Someone told him the springs for this model movement are hard to find..

One of the questions i have is will these springs be hard to find,,the springs are not broke but have several stress cracks...

i also have a question on the pendulam rod it is just about broke into and is made of wood ,can i find a replacement rod ..from where the pendulam rod hooks on the movement to the bottom of the pendulam is 42 inches...the dial on the clock is 20 inches in dia..

I'm wondering how it would work to splice the pendulum rod with something like a butterfly key splice. Has anyone ever tried this? (I'm assuming the current rod is original and that there would be some value in keeping it, if possible.)
