On October 13th the very first clock made by brothers James and John Harrison (yes, the great Longitude Man) was auctioned at Sotheby's, it belonged to the now closed (I understand) Time Museum.

The clock sold for over 1.5 million dollars; you can find its history and picture on the auction site: James and John Harrison clock auction.

Really very interesting piece of history. Thanks to Samie L. Smith for bringing the attention to this auction.

Carlos and Samie,

Thanks for the very interesting read. I would have bid higher, but got distracted when the hammer went down. Roll Eyes
