Gerald ZimmermannWith those pinned plates I would date the clock earlier, the plateau seems to be a later repair/replacement.

Norman MayberryHi Peter,Your clock probably dates to late 1800's or early 1900's.The platform escapement made them run in any position,They don't have to sit level like a pendulum clock. The slots in the platform are so you can adjust the depth of the escape pinion into the contrate wheel. There is a pinion on the bottom of the escape wheel that meshes with the contrate wheel thus driving the train. Many of these types of clock were used in staterooms aboard Cruise ships.I've had and worked on a lot of these type of French clock.Regards.Norm

Norman MayberryHi Peter,Your clock should run 7 or 8 days.I notice the regulator is set towards 'Retard".Could be why it runs slow.Norm
