Questions regarding my Accutron "Click" to Login or Register

Phil Dellinger's picture of his Accutron in "Timekeeper's Gallery" prompted me to take a closer look at my only Accutron wristwatch in my ww collection. In doing so, I have a few questions that hopefully can be answered. Sure it's no tuning fork watch, yet it is an Accutron! I'm with Jim C. as I will add to my wish list!

Take a look!

On movement, Bulova 2710.10
On battery strap, un-adjusted 7 jewels

Inside cover - use Bulova cell 607 or equivalent

On dial - Accutron, Swiss, Quartz 82200

On Back cover - Accutron
P2

On Accutron site, says M - 1960 - 1969
N - 1970 - 1979

And of course, the number behind the initial is the year manufactured. Not sure if this would apply to mine. Would P represent 1990's? My jeweler said he thought mine was made in the 1960's. He put a value of $350 - $400 on my watch.

On dial, under the word "Quartz" 82200. What does this number represent?

Any information would be appreciated! Thanks!

Stephanie,

According to the way that I read these prefixes for years on Accutrons, the year for your extremely beautiful watch is 1992.

L=1950, M=1960, N=1970, O=1980, P=1990

The letter puts it into the decade and the number after the letter is the year within that decade.

Since your watch is a quartz model, I am unfamiliar with this style and can't be of much more help to you for this one.

==========

Stephanie,

I hope your jeweler knows a lot about diamonds and jewelry, because his knowledge of watches appears to be very limited (That's about as nice a way as I can say that).

The watch above is pretty, but it's VERY OBVIOUSLY from the 1990s, and the 1992 date is probably right. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, all Accutrons had tuning fork movements, but for the last several years, the company has used the word "Accutron" only for its name recognition.

Analog quartz watches first appeared in the late 1970s or early 1980s. There were no analog quartz watches in the 1960s.
